‘The Indispensable Parson’ Book Launch

As part of the Cowper 200 celebrations, a new book by Peter G. Bolt, William Cowper (1778-1858): The Indispensable Parson. The Life & Influence of Australia’s First Parish Clergyman, will be launched at the State Library by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of NSW.

For almost 50 years, William Cowper was the minister of St Philip’s Church, Sydney. He was instrumental in establishing many of the important social institutions of early NSW. His pioneering family also contributed towards building the nation in a variety of ways: politics, religion, education, medicine, farming.
